divine dictum

"Man is the measure of all things." (Protagoras)

A man in a bar. A few minutes ago, he killed his wife. He will do it again until his fate is fulfilled.

"Fatum's" major subject matter is: Is there such a thing as free will? Or are we mere executors – stooges of our destinies, slaves of external influences and suggestions?
Screenings of "Fatum" in cinemas provoked quite different, but always very intense reactions. Many got disturbed by the surreal images and the bizarre story. Others felt the film was liberating due to its radicality. "Fatum" surely is no film that permits an explicit intention. Some people's demand of having to comprehend everything at once and to intellectually classify everything perhaps gets in the way of the film's nature. "Fatum" is a nightmare. But who understands his own fears after all?
