September 2004. The reason for our journey to the Promised Land was the song 'He turned the water into wine' by Johnny Cash. In 1969, Johnny Cash told the prisoners at the concert in San Quentin that, if he ever had an inspiration, it was in the car on the way from Cana to Tiberias at the Sea of Galilee. His wife June and he had visited the chapel in Cana where Jesus is supposed to have turned water in wine.
'He turned the water into wine' aroused our wish to feel this journey ourselves. We were on a search, too – on a search for the true, absolute, completely perceptible inspiration.
