Like every morning, the ambitious businessman enters the office. Already in the hall, he meets his colleagues, reminding him of up-coming appointments, hassling him with cell phones, bulky documents and files. He works up the courage to struggle his way through it all. But even in his office he isn't sheltered from attacks. He is constantly bombed with phone calls, making him outgrown by stress and thus losing his head. On the subsequent search for his lost head, he meets a down-and-out, who guides him to the graveyard, where our stressed out businessman eventually finds his head again. What happens if you concentrate excessively on your own career and professional success? According to this film, the protagonist loses his head – thus his mind. Significantly enough, his fellow men don't (can't) help him on his search. Only the old dosser, who in contrast to the others isn't stressed out, but who even his greasy clothes expresses contentment, has the time to listen to the struck businessman and to help him. In this context, it is no coincidence that the protagonist finds his head again on the cemetery of all places, but it represents the quest of the human mind for balance and peace. On the other hand, this place of course is a symbol of death, which awaits everybody. So in conclusion the question is raised whether the excessive pursuit of success and career is wise and can be gratifying at all. |
